The time of remembrance for Larry Heeter, 69, has been set for today at South Whitley-Cleveland Township Fire Department beginning at 4 p.m.
Mr. Heeter died Friday, Dec. 20, 2013. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Miller Chapel, South Whitley.
Edna Mae DePoy, 86, passed away peacefully with her family surrounding her at 8:26 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at her residence.
She was born Dec. 14, 1927, in Columbia City the daughter of Lee and Eva (Snepp) Walker, Sr.
Edna attended Columbia City High School, and she was a Whitley County resident most of her lifetime, except for a brief period when she lived in New Haven for five years.
Dorothy E. Bumgardner, 86, of South Whitley, died at 1:18 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Grey Stone Health & Rehabilitation where she had admitted Dec. 23.
She was born June 28, 1927, in Allen County, a daughter of J.F. and Marie (Stairhime) Borcherding.
Her formative years were spent on a farm in Allen County. She graduated from Monroeville High School and completed her education at International Business College.
Sarah Beth Richards, beloved daughter of Joe and Heather (Bills) Richards of Columbia City, passed into the arms of Jesus Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014.
She was born at 5:53 p.m. at Dupont Hospital and lived 41 precious minutes.
Catherine S. Tulley, 52, of Columbia City, passed away at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014.
Mrs. Tulley was born June 17, 1961, in Columbia City, a daughter of Larry L. and Bonnie (Cox) Burns.
The surviving relatives include a son, twin daughters, two brothers, sister and a granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Sheets & Childs Funeral Home, with Pastor Brad Fredrickson, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, or one hour prior to the service.
Betty J. Rider, 82, of Columbia City, died at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor.
She was born Oct. 7, 1931, in Noble County, a daughter of Oscar H. and Elsie M. (Freed) Peterson.
Her formative years were spent in Noble County. She graduated from Cromwell High School.
On Feb. 14, 1954, she was united in marriage to Royce L. Rider. They made their home on the Merriam Rider farm in Etna until 1971, when they moved to Kimmell. In 1975, they moved to Columbia City. Mr. Rider died July 16, 1998.
Reuben Schwartz, 67, a resident of Cleveland Township, died at 5:29 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, in the Memorial Regional Hospital, Hollywood, Fla.
He was born Nov. 9, 1946, in Allen County, a son of David and Anna Irene Miller Schwartz.
On Oct. 4, 1964, he was united in marriage to Martha Graber. She preceded him in death Nov. 5, 1990.
Steve Campbell, 70, of Columbia City went home to be with his Heavenly Father, Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Lutheran Hospital.
Born Dec. 16, 1943, in Fort Wayne, he was the son of Ernest Stephan Campbell and Dorothy (Kring) Mosel. He attended South Side High School and received his associate degree from Ivy Tech.
On Aug. 25, 1962, Steve married Sydney Schinbeckler. He lived in Fort Wayne before building the familyâ€™s home in Columbia City in 1986.
Hazel C. Fiandt, 84, of Columbia City, died at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, in the emergency room of Parkview Whitley Hospital where she was transported earlier.
She was born March 17, 1929, in Elk City, Okla., a daughter of Price and Josie (Young) Taulbee.
As a young girl, her family moved to Huntertown and later Churubusco.
She graduated from Churubusco High School. In 1968 she moved to Columbia City.
A dining room supervisor and hostess, she was employed at the 30 Club for 10 years, The Alley for 10 years and Tippecanoe Country Club from 1985 until 1995.
Carzella Grizzle, 94, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:25 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at Parkview Whitley Hospital.
Born April 9, 1919, in Turtletown, Tenn., she was the daughter of Poley and Maggie Wilcox.
She moved from Kentucky in 1965 to Whitley County and had been a resident at Millerâ€™s Merry Manner since 2007. She enjoyed reading her bible, watching religious shows on TV, listening to country music, playing her harmonica and taking care of her parrot, Norman.
