Miriam J. Bishop, 87, a lifelong resident of South Whitley, died at 1:56 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2014, in the emergency room at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
She was born March 13, 1927, in South Whitley, a daughter of Claude H. and Ruth L. (Bair) Herr. She graduated from South Whitley High School in 1945.
On March 14, 1947, she was united in marriage to Jack L. Bishop. Mr. Bishop died June 14, 2005.

Sophia Whiteman, 3 days, of Columbia City, went to heaven as she was held by her mother and father Monday, June 2, 2014, at 2:32 a.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
She was born May 30, 2014, to Thomas and Sara (Konkle) Whiteman.

Norma E. Boggs, 91, of Scottsville, N.Y., passed away at 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at Episcopal Church Home, Rochester, N.Y.
Born Oct. 12, 1922, in Allen County, she was the daughter of Earl and Hilda (Frazier) Sprouls.
She lived her entire life in the Churubusco area until 2010 when she decided to move closer to her son Steven.
She graduated from Huntertown High School with the Class of 1940.

Denise A. Snodgrass, 50

Denise A. “DeeDee” Snodgrass, 50, of rural Columbia City, died at 2:10 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014 at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home, Fort Wayne where she was admitted Friday.
She was born Dec. 1, 1963 in Columbia City, a daughter of Dennis E. and Barbara A. (Williamson) Brown. Her formative years were spent in the South Whitley area. She graduated from Whitko High School.
On Sept. 18, 1982 she was united in marriage to Rick L. Snodgrass. They have always made their home in Washington Township, moving to their present home in 1983.

Shirley Lou Kreger, 84 of Pierceton, passed away at 2:40 am Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Mason’s Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Warsaw.
On May 14, 1930, she was born in Pierceton to Lewis and Anna (Rhodes) Jones.
Shirley was united in marriage to Lionel J. Kreger Oct. 23, 1948, in Churubusco. He preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1995.

June E. Adams, 90, of Larwill, died at 10:20 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at her home.
She was born June 17, 1923, in Whitley County, a daughter of Leo and Huldah J. (Palmer) Miller. She graduated from Larwill High School in 1941.
On Feb. 13, 1943, she was united in marriage to Porter Jackson “Jack” Adams. They always made their home in the Larwill area. Mr. Adams died May 14, 2008.
She was a member of St. Paul of the Cross Catholic Church.

Ross L. Cook, 65, of Columbia City, passed away at 11:27 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born April 3, 1949, in Allen County, he was the son of Jack A. and Gloria J. (Gruesbeck) Cook.
A lifetime resident of Whitley County, he graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1967 and attended Ivy Tech.
Ross served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. On June 12, 1982, he married Rebecca L. Auer at Hope Lutheran Church, Coesse.

Connie Freshour, 60

Connie June Freshour, 60, passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at her home in LeRoy, Kan.
She was born June 14, 1953 in Iola, Kan., the daughter of Ray and Willena Simpson Holloway.
Connie attended Colony Crest High School and graduated as a member of the Class of 1971.
During the years following high school she lived in Columbia City, and worked at Weatherhead Manufacturing.
Connie was joined in marriage to Ralph K. Freshour June 16, 1978, in Columbia City.
They lived in Columbia City until moving to Colony in 1980.

Dennis W. Sutton, 61, of Claypool, died at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
He was born July 15, 1952, in Bluffton, a son of Richard F. and Alice Rose (Shady) Sutton. His formative years were spent in South Whitley, graduating from South Whitley High School.
He was employed at Dayco, Wolf Cage & Supply for 19 years, Whitley Feeds in South Whitley for 11 years and lastly at Advanced Auto Parts.
A member of Noble County Rabbit Fanciers where he served as president, he was also a member of Indiana Bass Masters.

Jeana R. Pontzius, 46, of Larwill, passed away at 1:43 pm Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born March 29, 1968 in Springfield, Ill., she was the daughter of Gary Louis and Margaret Rose (Campbell) Cox.
Jeana was an area resident for most of her life and grew up at Lower Long Lake in Albion, before moving to Columbia City and most recently to Larwill.
She attended Central Noble Schools. On June 22, 2012, she married John Pontzius in Columbia City.
