Thelma Curry, 97, from Ruskin, Fla. passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Oct. 13, 2014.
She was born March 2, 1917, in Leesburg. She was the town clerk for Columbia City for over 25 years. She was the bookkeeper at the same feed store in Columbia City which her husband, the late Harold Curry managed.
Mr. Earl Allen Shaw Jr., 59, of Columbia City, passed away Friday, Oct. 3, 2014.
He is survived by wife Barbara Shaw; and children, Donna and Robert Shaw.
Service will be held at the Shaw residence Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

Barbara L. Pearson, 86, a resident of rural Churubusco and widow of Melvin B. Pearson, passed away unexpectedly at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2014, at the Kingston Care Center in Fort Wayne. She had been a patient there for one and one half years.
Mrs. Pearson was born in Smith Township May 12, 1928, a daughter of Murray and Lois (Geiger) Harrold. She graduated from Churubusco High School in 1947, and was a lifelong resident of Churubusco.
On Sept. 14, 1957 she was married in Churubusco to Melvin B. Pearson.

Jon A. Fulton, 55, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.
Born Sept. 27, 1959 in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of Buddy Doyle and Anna Gail (Cox) Fulton.
He lived in the Detroit metropolitan area before moving to Whitley County in 1991. He graduated from East Detroit High School with the Class of 1977, and attended Rochester College, Rochester Hills, Mich. where he pursued a bachelorâ€™s of religious education degree.

Luther â€śDaleâ€ť Mann, 70, died at 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at Parkview Whitley Hospitalâ€™s emergency room. He had been in declining health.
He was born June 23, 1944 in Edwards County, Ill., and was the son of the late Hugh and Ruby (Hall) Mann. His formative years were spent in Albion, Ill. He graduated from Edwards County Senior High School in 1962. He went on to earn an associateâ€™s degree in electronics from United Electronics.

Allan N. Swangren, 75, passed away peacefully at 12:05 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014 at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City, where he had been a resident since March.
He was born Dec. 1, 1938 in Melrose Park, Ill., son of the late Norman and Mabel (Kopp) Swangren. He spent his formative years in Maywood, Ill. and attended Proviso High School, Maywood, Ill.
On Jan. 24, 1962 he was inducted into the U.S. Army. On Jan. 27, 1964 he was honorably discharged and moved to reserve status. He completed his service Jan. 23, 1968.
Treva Eloise Ghaster, 90, passed away Sunday Oct. 5, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Whitley County, Treva was a Lutheran School of Nursing graduate and worked as an R.N. with Lutheran Hospital and St. Joe Medical Center for many years, retiring in 1991. She was a member of Blackhawk Baptist Church.

Margaret L. Wilcoxson, 94, of Columbia City, passed away Wednesday Oct. 8, 2014, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor, Columbia City.
Born Dec. 7, 1919, in Whitley County, she was the daughter of James and Ruth (Gangwer) Hess.
A lifetime resident of Whitley County, Margaret graduated from Coesse High School with the Class of 1938.
On Nov. 6, 1941, she married Charles E. Wilcoxson. She was a homemaker and member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Whitley County Womenâ€™s Extension Club.

Hancford â€śHankâ€ť Louise Layne, 90, of South Whitley, went home to be with the Lord Thursday Oct. 9, 2014.
Born April 23, 1924, in Manton, Ky., she was the daughter of Lee and Nelis (Howard) Stephens.
She grew up in Manton and graduated from Martin High School with the Class of 1944.

Warren York, 57, of Columbia City, passed away at 8:34 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Parkview Regional Medical Center.
Born Dec. 24, 1956, in Columbia City, he was the son of Donald A. and Marilee J. (Heil) York.
Warren graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1976. He worked at Columbia City Engineering for more than 20 years and was a member of Columbia City United Methodist Church.
