Robert Stangland, 89, of Columbia City, passed away at 1:12 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, and reunited with his wife, Waundean who passed away this past September.
A life-long resident of Whitley County, Bob was born Feb. 21, 1925, in Jefferson Township, he was the son of James and Grace (Mohn) Stangland.
John M. Arter, 63, of Pierceton, passed away at 5:40 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City.
Born on Sept. 7, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio, he was the son of John A. and Helen A. (Rondonsky) Arter.
He graduated from New Haven High School with the Class of 1968 and earned an associates degree from Ivy Tech in HVAC certification and numerous other certifications earned over his lifetime.
Joshua Harold Copp, 35, of rural South Whitley, died early Monday morning, April 14, 2014, due to natural causes.
He was born July 2, 1978, in Fort Wayne, a son of Jeffrey O. and Connie R. (Johnson) Copp.
In 1979 his family moved to Osceola, from Oakbrook, Ill. In 1985, the family moved to Rehrersburg, Pa.
He graduated from Tulpehocken High School in Bernville, where he played soccer and basketball. In 1998, he returned to Indiana to live in Columbia City.
On Oct. 6, 2001 he was united in marriage to Anna R. Siegrist.
Brian Dee Weigold, 60, of Elkhart, passed away of natural causes in his home April 11, 2014. He was born April 12, 1953.
Geraldene A Slater, 97, of Columbia City, passed away at 3:30 pm on Friday April 11, 2014, at Parkview Whitley Hospital, Columbia City.
Born in Kosciusko County March 6, 1917, she was the daughter of Fred R. and L. Ruth (Harney) Jellison.
She graduated from Sidney High School, Sidney, with the Class of 1935. She lived there prior to moving to South Whitley in 1949.
She married to Stan Slater in Hillsdale, Mich. Geraldene worked for the Sidney Telephone Company as a telephone operator manager.
Raymond Perry Goble Jr., 64, a lifelong Washington Township resident, went to be with the Lord Saturday, April 12, 2014.
He was born Feb. 26, 1950, in Fort Wayne, a son of Raymond P. and Mary Mildred Henrietta (Smith) Goble. He graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1968.
He was employed at Weatherhead for 36 years, until October 2003. From 2004 until 2009 he worked at Teghtmeyer Ace Hardware.
His church membership was with South Whitley Church of God.
Joy M. Worrick, 93, of Columbia City, died at 9:12 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2014, at Parkview Oaks, Columbia City, where she had been a resident since April 3.
She was born April 19, 1920, in Whitley County, a daughter of the late Everett â€śBudâ€ť and Dessie (Traster) Taylor.
Her formative years were spent in Union Township. She graduated from Union Township High School.
On April 9, 1944, she was united in marriage to Lester B. Worrick. They made their home in Union Township. In 1997, the couple moved to Westgate, Columbia City, and 2005 to their present home.
Richard W. Stang , 73, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Bethlehem Woods Rehab Center in Fort Wayne.
Born in Elyria, Ohio, Richard worked as a union carpenter with Local 232 for 20 years, and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and fishing.
Richard D. â€śRickâ€ť Kiester, 91, a resident of Columbia City, died at 9:17 p.m., Friday, April 4, 2014, at Parkview Oaks where he had been a resident since April 2013.
He was born Jan. 10, 1923, in Noble County, a son of the late Merle and Leah (Reed) Kiester. His formative years were spent in the Wolf Lake area where he graduated from high school in 1941.
An accomplished basketball player, he was a member of the Wolf Lake basketball team that made it to the semi-state finals in 1941.
Linda E. Hollenbaugh, 75, of rural Roanoke, died at noon Saturday, April 6, 2014 at Country Meadows Nursing Home, Fort Wayne, where she had been a resident for the past two weeks.
She was born July 15, 1938, in Fort Wayne, a daughter of the late Clarence and Altha (Simons) Raichart.
Her formative years were spent in Jefferson Township, Whitley County. She graduated from Jefferson Center High School as valedictorian of her class of 1956. She then earned her bachelor of science in elementary education at Manchester College in 1960.
