A final look back on the Indiana high school football season sees a combined 30-6 record for Whitley County go down as easily the best ever for three area high school squads.
The last part of that exciting season ended Friday night in the semistate round but not without plenty of history made by Churubusco in 2010.
COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Lady Eagle basketball team finished both halves against the Marion Lady Giants with strong inside play. The Lady Eagles out scored the visitors 44-27 in the second and fourth quarters to take a 65-50 win Saturday night.
After a close first quarter that went back and forth the Eagles finally took the lead 9-6 on an inside basket by senior Corinna Raypole. A basket from the right wing by junior Samara Qureshi gave Columbia City an 11-8 lead at the end of the first quarter.
ELKHART — It’s been a roller coaster start to the season for Whitko girls’ basketball just four games into schedule.
Two wins under their belt, the Lady Wildcats have had tough competition follow up each win.
After a home opening win, Whitko fell to Columbia City. Following a county victory over Churubusco last week, a long road trip to Elkhart Memorial finished with a lopsided loss to the Lady Chargers 79-33.
