GARRETT — The train stopped Thursday night in Garrett where Churubusco volleyball was in search of its first regular season victory.
After a tough three-game loss to Leo earlier in the week, the Lady Eagles hit the road for the first time on the season and hoped to topple the Lady Railroaders.
A slow start to the night kept ’Busco from doing so.
Despite nearly winning the third game of the match, Churubusco had too much of a hole to climb out of after falling in the first two games 13-25, 12-25.
WARSAW – For the Columbia City Eagle Tennis team this has been a match that they have pointed to since a close 3-2 loss last year. With all the build-up and preparation in place the Eagles had to deal with an emotional letdown when they found out in the morning that number one singles player Dylan Hinen was unavailable due to illness. The Eagles picked up the pieces and played well, but fell in the season opener to Warsaw by a 3-2 count.
