Columbia City girls' soccer dealt Northeast Hoosier Conference foe DeKalb a 2-0 shutout on the road Tuesday night. Goals came from Sarah Opliger on an assist from Katie Salliant in the first half. Michaela McIntosh followed with a second half goal with the help of Jessica Bickle on the assist. Pictured is junior Lacey Jahn lining up a cross in the first half.
COLUMBIA CITY — Perhaps morning games are not the Columbia City boys’ soccer team’s cup of tea. Had the game started 12 minutes later, the outcome may have been different.
The Eagles hosted the Huntington North Vikings Saturday morning and were handed a 4-1 loss.
In the first 12 minutes, the Vikings jumped out to an early lead that Columbia City was unable to recover from. Huntington North scored three quick goals before the Eagles could wipe the sleep from their eyes.
MARION — The day was full of ranked teams and quality runners at the Marion Invitational Saturday.
Among them were four in the boys’ race taking the top four spots. No. 16 Fort Wayne Snider edged No. 5 Noblesville 80-86.
Whitko had the best day for Whitley County taking eighth overall behind the top 10 finish of senior Brian Menzie.
Menzie placed eighth out of 198 runners in the field with his time of 16:23.
