LIGONIER – Churubu-sco’s boys’ and girls’ cross country teams competed in the Northeast Corner Conference meet Saturday morning at West Noble, with the girls placing sixth and the boys taking seventh.
West Noble fared well on its home turf with six girls runners in the top 20, led by fourth place Anissa Richards with a time of 19:56, to give the team a second place finish. The Charger boys team won the boys race.
FORT WAYNE — Lady Eagle runner Samantha Roush raised her win streak to four Saturday morning at the Northeast Hoosier Conference Meet in Fort Wayne.
Sophomore first team all-NHC Roush finished seven seconds ahead of her nearest opponent (19:15), Olivia Hippensteel of Carroll and the rest of the Lady Charger pack.
Though Roush won the race, Carroll controlled the 2-7 slots in the Lady Chargers win by 59 points over second place Homestead.
WARSAW — The Eagles tennis team wasn’t ready to end their stand-out season at Warsaw’s sectional Saturday.
After its first win in over 30 years against Homestead a couple weeks ago, Columbia City walked away with its first sectional in the school’s history.
The Eagles fought off the week’s rough weather and a 2-1 deficit to overcome Warsaw in the championship match.
Many area sectional matches were postponed for rain, forcing several teams to play two matches in one day.
The Eagles won in a lopsided 5-0 match over Whitko in the first round.
