MONROE â Coming off an opening round sectional win over South Adams Tuesday, Churubuscoâs girls basketball team traveled to Adams Central High School to play the hosting Lady Flying Jets in its second round
The Lady Eagles knocked off their opponent, 31-24, and will head back today to face Fort Wayne Bishop Luers for the sectional championship.
âIâm proud of our girls for sticking together and giving us a change to win a sectional,â said âBusco Head Coach Jamie Perlich.
CARROLL â Lady Eagle basketball season has come to a close. In round two of sectional play Friday, Columbia City traveled to Carroll, host of the Class 4A Sectional 5, and lost to Fort Wayne Snider in a tough fought contest. The Lady Panthers were victorious by a score of 56-47, a much smaller margin than the 35-point Snider victory in November.
GAS CITY â Whitkoâs girls basketball team battled back from a 34-14 third-quarter deficit to come within four points of a win Friday night in the semi-final sectional game at Mississinewa against Bellmont.
After a 26-13 advantage at halftime, the Squaws scored six points to the Lady âCatsâ one, giving Whitko a 20-point deficit with just over three minutes left in the third quarter.
HAMILTON â Churu-buscoâs boys basketball squad traveled to Northeast Corner Conference foe Hamilton Thursday night. The Eagles put the Marines away early, holding the hosts scoreless for the first fourteen minutes of play on their way to a dominating 62-25 win.
COLUMBIA CITY â Columbia Cityâs boys basketball team broke a four-game losing streak Thursday night at home against Carroll.
The Eagles beat the Chargers by 10 points earlier this season at the holiday tournament and won 45-39 in the official Northeast Hoosier Conference match-up.
The low-scoring game had only eight Columbia City field goals in the entire 32 minutes.
Both teams only had three points each after over four minutes of play and Carroll finished the first quarter with the lead, 13-8.
