SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s boys basketball team defeated Wayne in South Whitley Friday night, 65-63.
Logan Irwin scored 36 points for the Wildcats, adding to his already 2,000 plus career points.
Irwin started the game off with Whitko’s first seven points to take the Wildcats’ first lead, 7-5, with 5:12 left in the first quarter. Jordan Sims hit one of his two 3-pointers with three minutes left in the quarter and Alex Stoddard chipped in seven in the stanza.
CHURUBUSCO — In a game that was never farther apart than six points for most of the game, Churubusco won its seventh straight game, defeating visiting Northeast Corner Conference opponent Fairfield in a game that ended with a somewhat misleading score, 58-46.
Coming into the game, both teams likely had the last three years on their minds. Two seasons ago, the Eagles lost in Fairfield by three points on the road and four points in overtime at home. Last year, ‘Busco returned the favor with a three-point overtime victory on the Falcons’ home court.
