February 25, 2012

SOUTH WHITLEY — The Wildcat basketball team played the final five minutes only putting two points on the scoreboard Friday night, falling to Northwood (9-11) 45-39.

With a 33-30 lead to start the fourth quarter, Whitko was nearly scoreless while the Panthers tacked on 15 points in the last eight minutes to take the win.

The score doesn’t adequately display the seven lead changes and three-point margins throughout much of the game.

COLUMBIA CITY — The seniors — along with the rest of the Columbia City basketball team — are heading into the tourney having finished their regular season with a win.

The Eagles beat the visiting Fort Wayne Concordia 64-55 on senior night, the final regular season contest of the season for the twelfth graders.

“Those guys are all amazing,” said junior Derek Hinen. “We have a special bond with each one of those guys; in a system like Columbia City’s I think you get to know each other better than a lot of other system’s in the state.”
