Eagles hold on for win over North Side

March 2, 2012

WATERLOO — “I love these guys. I love the way they play,” Columbia City Head Basketball Coach Chris Benedict said after the sectional semi-final win over North Side.

The Eagles came back from a 47-40 deficit late in the third quarter to win 66-56 over the Redskins Friday night at DeKalb.

“I think they found themselves,” Benedict said. “When they stay together they have a chance to be a really good team.”

Columbia City senior Drew Burnsworth stole the momentum in the final seconds of the third quarter, scoring two buckets and leading the Eagles to the win.

COLUMBIA CITY — Head Coach of the Indiana Tech Soccer Team David Bokhart has a relatively experienced team coming back for another year on the field in 2012.

As with all collegiate athletics however, turnover is a way of life. Bokhart was at Columbia City High School to help with that turnover.

Senior Nathan Wilz signed his letter of intent Thursday with Bokhart, his parents Joe and Kris Wilz, and Athletic Director Geoff Penrod.
