’Busco golf undefeated after three matches

CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco golf team improved to 3-0 with a 160-172 win over Leo at Eel River Golf Course Wednesday night.

The Eagles were led by Ryan Mayer and Beau Barkley who shot 38 and 39 respectively. Parker Conrad scored a 41 and Brad Martin also had a solid round, carding a 42.

“This was just a tremendous team effort”, said Coach Todd Fry. “Every coach wants this type of consistency from his team and tonight we had it.”

Finishing scoring for the host Eagles was Brandon Norris with a 44 and Landon Pearson with a 49.

CHURUBUSCO — NECC day at Parkview Field

Churubusco, along with the rest of the Northeast Corner Conference, had the opportunity to play at Parkview Field.

The Eagles lost to Fairfield, 15-5.

Lady Eagles softball defeats Garrett, 9-2

COLUMBIA CITY — It may not have been perfect, like its season-opening perfect-game win over Marion, but the Columbia City Lady Eagle Softball team used a potent offense and solid pitching to post a 9-2 win over the visiting Garrett Lady Railroaders.

’Cats fall in 12-frame battle to Norwell

OSSIAN —Whitko’s baseball team lost in 12 innings to Norwell (7-1) Wednesday night in Ossian.

After taking a 3-0 lead in the first inning, the Knights worked their way back in the ballgame to tie the score at four in the seventh inning.

The Wildcats went scoreless for six frames, and Norwell finally scored a run at the bottom of the 12th to end the game, 5-4.

Wyatt Wolf was the first to cross home plate Wednesday, scoring off a double by Colin Nicodemus. Nicodemus was close behind, getting the Wildcats’ second run from a single by Ryan Weigold.
