COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s girls tennis team edged out Leo Wednesday night, 3-2, in Columbia City.
No. 1 singles Celine Rongos won her match, 6-1, 6-1.
Both doubles teams also picked up wins. Breanna Hicks and Sydney Ford defeated the Lady Lions 6-3, 6-4. In No. 2 doubles, Blake Farber and Macie Hinen beat Leo 6-3, 6-2.
Columbia City’s two losses were close matches, with both going into extra sets.

FORT WAYNE — Though Columbia City’s golf team didn’t win Tuesday night against undefeated Northeast Hoosier Conference foe Carroll, the Eagles posted their best score of the season. The Chargers won 151-166.
“It’s our best total of the year,” Columbia City Head Coach Andrew Thompson said. “It was a good night for us at Autumn Ridge. We had a good showing."
Columbia City’s players hadn’t played the course in their varsity careers, and Thompson was impressed with their performance.
Max Dryer and Dustin Parrett of Columbia City each shot 41s.
COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City baseball team clobbered the DeKalb Barons Wednesday night, 15-7.
The Eagles now hold a record of 9-5 on the year, 1-2 in the Northeast Hoosier Conference.
Columbia City scored 15 runs on 18 hits to go with two errors. DeKalb scored seven runs with 11 hits and no errors.
Columbia City third baseman Jordan Bickle hit two doubles in the game, while designated hitter Austin McCormick and first baseman Connor Reed smacked one double each.
Left fielder Connor Slavich smashed a three-run home run, his second dinger on the season.
