COLUMBIA CITY â€” Columbia Cityâ€™s tennis team downed DeKalb, 4-1.
â€śI was very pleased with the girls tonight,â€ť Columbia City Head Coach Kathleen Myers said. â€śThey stayed focused on the courts and took care of business.â€ť
The Lady Eagles got wins in both doubles matches, and the No. 1 and 2 singles competitions.
Breanna Hicks and Sydney Ford won in close 6-3, 6-4 sets in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 doubles, Blake Farber and Macie Hinen won 6-2, 6-3.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Whitkoâ€™s baseball team improved its record to 13-5 with two wins over the weekend.
The Wildcats downed Bellmont Friday, 4-3 and pummeled Southwood Saturday, 11-0.
Against Bellmont, the â€™Cats slowly built to a 4-0 lead after four innings.
The Braves attempted a comeback in the fifth frame, scoring three runs. Those three runs would be the only three Bellmont scored in the game, as the Wildcats won 4-3.
Win over Southwood
Whitkoâ€™s win over Soutwood wasnâ€™t as nailbiting, as the â€™Cats tacked on four runs in the last two frames to win 11-0.
