Lady Eagle tennis defeats NHC foe DeKalb

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s tennis team downed DeKalb, 4-1.

“I was very pleased with the girls tonight,” Columbia City Head Coach Kathleen Myers said. “They stayed focused on the courts and took care of business.”

The Lady Eagles got wins in both doubles matches, and the No. 1 and 2 singles competitions.
Breanna Hicks and Sydney Ford won in close 6-3, 6-4 sets in the No. 1 doubles match. In the No. 2 doubles, Blake Farber and Macie Hinen won 6-2, 6-3.

Whitko downs Bellmont, Southwood

SOUTH WHITLEY — Whitko’s baseball team improved its record to 13-5 with two wins over the weekend.

The Wildcats downed Bellmont Friday, 4-3 and pummeled Southwood Saturday, 11-0.

Against Bellmont, the ’Cats slowly built to a 4-0 lead after four innings.

The Braves attempted a comeback in the fifth frame, scoring three runs. Those three runs would be the only three Bellmont scored in the game, as the Wildcats won 4-3.

Win over Southwood

Whitko’s win over Soutwood wasn’t as nailbiting, as the ’Cats tacked on four runs in the last two frames to win 11-0.
