CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco gave its crowd exactly what it expected in Friday night’s homecoming game against Angola.
Another shut-out win over a Northeast Corner Conference team, another slew of touchdown runs by Jason Nicodemus and another strong performance by the defense.
The Eagles are now 5-0 and travel to West Noble next week.
SOUTH WHITLEY — “Three cheers for the Wildcats!” said Head Coach Wayne Swender, pride swelling in his voice. “Hip-hip, hooray,”came the resounding cheer from the Whitko student section — having charged the field in celebration of Friday’s homecoming defeat of the Wabash Apaches, 51-19.
Within three minutes, Whitko was on the board after sophomore Devin Gerding rushed for a 63-yard touchdown.
After a weekend break, the Wildcats will spend the week preparing to travel to Northfield, “a much improved team,” said Swender with anticipation.
WATERLOO — A fired-up Columbia City defense forced six DeKalb turnovers and scored six points of its own while also giving the offense a short field to work with for most of the game, as the Eagles spoiled the Baron’s Friday night Homecoming with a 62-10 Northeast Hoosier Conference thumping.
The win boosts the Eagle record to 3-2 overall and 3-1 in the NHC heading into next week’s Homecoming contest with conference foe New Haven.
