SOUTH WHITLEY — “Swender’s not going to believe this, but I’ll make him,” said Whitko’s Assistant Coach Josh Mohr with a laugh in his voice.
Whitko took to the field Friday without Head Coach Wayne Swender, and nonetheless taking the upset over former undefeated Three Rivers Conference foe North Miami. A low scoring game, the Wildcats overtook the Warriors in the fourth quarter, ending 13-10.
Swender returns Monday to prepare for next week’s game at Rochester.

CULVER — Churubusco’s 16-game regular season win streak came to an end Friday at Culver Military Academy.
Culver capitalized on ’Busco miscues to take a 35-16 win, giving Churubusco its first loss of the season.
CMA took control of the field from the beginning of the game, picking off a ’Busco pass on its first possession and scoring a touchdown two plays later.
Churubusco looks to comeback from its loss, traveling to Northeast Corner Conference foe Fairfield next Friday.
KENDALLVILLE — The Columbia City football team’s roller coaster season fell off a cliff against Northeast Hoosier Conference foe, the East Noble Knights Friday. A week after the Eagles came within a whisker of upsetting undefeated New Haven, Columbia City ended up on the wrong end of a 79-7 shellacking by the Knights.
With the Columbia City sidelines bearing a strong resemblance to an orthopedics ward, the Eagles were forced into using several players with almost no varsity experience to fill out an injury depleted receiving corps and defensive backfield.
