Eagles look to bounce back from NHC loss

COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s boys basketball team is looking to rebound from its heart-breaking loss to Homestead Friday by hosting Huntington North Tuesday.

The Eagles fell to the Spartans by one point after a last-second 3-pointer at the buzzer for their first Northeast Hoosier Conference loss, and second defeat of the season.

The Vikings have a deceiving 7-6 record, as they play a particularly strong schedule.

GOSHEN — Both Columbia City’s and Whitko’s wrestling teams traveled to the Goshen Invitational looking to build momentum heading into the final week of the regular season. Columbia City placed fourth and Whitko sixth — but both coaches found positives in Saturday’s competition.

Homestead beats Col. City girls, 65-37

COLUMBIA CITY — After a three-game win streak, Columbia City’s girls basketball team fell to Homestead Saturday night, 65-37.

The Lady Spartans only have two losses on the season, while Columbia City has been working to find its niche this year.

While the Lady Eagles suffered their 13th loss of the season, Shearer said the team has been improving.

Homestead opened the game by taking a 16-5 lead. Columbia City’s lone points came from Emily Whiteleather (3) and Macie Hinen (2).
