’Cats win; still undefeated in TRC

October 5, 2013

DENVER — Whitko’s football team continued its winning streak Friday, downing Three Rivers Conference foe North Miami 49-35 to remain undefeated in the TRC.

Devin Gerding tallied three of the Wildcats’ seven touchdowns — two in the air and one on the ground.

Gerding scored the ’Cats’ first two TDs of the game to give Whitko a strong 14-0 advantage in the first quarter.

His first score came off a 26-yard pass from quarterback Ethan Nicodemus with less than five minutes off the clock.

’Busco seeks, finds revenge against Culver

October 5, 2013

CHURUBUSCO — Rewind to one year ago, and Churubusco was handed its first and only loss of the regular season at Culver Academy.

The opposing Eagles stomped ’Busco 35-16. Churubusco was on a four-game shutout streak before traveling to Culver last September.

The tables were turned this season, as Churubusco dropped Culver Academy (4-4) by a 20-3 score.

The first quarter was a defensive battle, as neither team found the end zone.

’Busco picked up momentum in the second quarter after a fourth-down conversion.

Eagles fall to East Noble

October 5, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City Eagle football team still licking its wounds from a spate of injuries ran into a visiting East Noble squad, angry from an upset loss last week.

The Eagles, despite what Head Coach Randy Hudgins called a "good week of practice," came out flat and dug themselves a 14-0 first quarter hole on their way to a 31-7 Northeast Hoosier Conference loss on a rainy night at Max Gandy Athletic Field.

The Eagles' offensive woes from last week continued as they struggled to handle a veteran East Noble defensive line.
