LIGONIER â An early deficit was too much for Churubuscoâs girls basketball team to overcome.
West Noble got off to a hot start in its 65-51 win over the Lady Eagles Friday. The Lady Chargers roared out to an 11-0 start in the first quarter.
From that moment on, âBusco only scored three fewer points than the host-Lady Chargers. However, the early gap would prove insurmountable.
West Nobleâs 11-0 run to open the game turned into a 19-5 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
The Lady Chargers had the score out as far as 31-12 at halftime.
COLUMBIA CITY â After close games, many coaches donât speak very highly of the opposing team.
It was quite the opposite for Norwellâs Head Coach Eric Thornton, when he spoke of Friday nightâs game against Columbia Cityâs girls basketball team.
âColumbia Cityâs not going to give up,â Thornton said.
If effort heart could win the game, the Lady Eagles couldâve walked out of the gym with a second conference win Friday night.
Unfortunately, though, Norwell (5-1) held on through a roller coaster fourth quarter to win, 50-46, and pick up its first Northeast Hoosier Conference win.
