LAGRANGE â€” Churubuscoâ€™s boys basketball team dropped a 65-55 contest to Prairie Heights Friday night.
The Eagles had a 31-24 advantage at halftime, but Prairie Heights outscored â€™Busco 41-24 to steal the win from the Eagles.
Churubusco was led in scoring by Brent Simmons with 22 points, followed by T.J. Campbell with 15.
Campbell hit 5-of-9 3-pointers for the Eagles in his 15 points.
Simmons was Churubuscoâ€™s leading rebounder with nine, followed by Corey Sarrazin with five and Garrett Simmons with three.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” In what has been the start to a struggling season, Whitkoâ€™s boys basketball team suffered another loss Friday night, falling in a Three Rivers Conference matchup with Tippecanoe Valley, 59-40.
Despite the 19-point loss, the Wildcats didnâ€™t go down without a fight.
After trailing most of the game, down 10-6 after the first quarter, 24-10 at halftime and 40-27 going into the fourth quarter, Whitko battled back to come within eight points with seven minutes on the clock.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” When two athletic and quick teams meet, one might expect a clean, fast ballgame. Thursday nightâ€™s Whitko girls basketball game with the visiting West Noble Lady Chargers showed that something very different is also a possibility.
The Chargersâ€™ and Wildcatsâ€™ pressure defense forced a combined 59 turnovers and went to the free-throw line for 77 attempts on the game.
With less than a second left, the Lady Wildcats got a rebound basket at the buzzer to pull out a stirring 64-62 home win giving them their best start to a season since the early nineties.
