MIDDLEBURY— Northridge’s girls basketball team used a big first half lead to defeat Columbia City Friday.
The Lady Raiders won by a final margin of 62-32.
The game was the first in pool play for both teams in Northridge’s Tournament.
Columbia City (7-5) will take on Andrean tomorrow morning in the tournament.
Lady Eagle Head Coach Amy Shearer said a lack of effort from her team allowed too many easy baskets for Northridge.
COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s boys basketball team is off to a struggling start in the squad’s holiday tournament.
The Eagles hosted the opening day of the Carroll Shootout, but home-court advantage wasn’t enough for Columbia City, as the team fell 57-41 to Mooresville in the opening game at noon, and 62-30 to Munster in the late game Friday.
Columbia City’s Justin Bachelder led the Eagles against Mooresville with 11 points.
COLUMBIA CITY — The 7-4 record may not show it, but Columbia City’s girls basketball team could easily be undefeated this season.
Three of the Lady Eagles’ losses have been by five points or less, and the fourth loss was in overtime by seven points.
Glass-half-empty critics may view the losses as a weakness of the team, not able to come out on top of close games, but statistics shine a different light on the team’s effort.
