ISMS grapplers host, win invite

COLUMBIA CITY — Indian Springs Middle School hosted a wrestling invitational Saturday with four middle schools.

East Noble, Lakeland, Adams Central and Lincoln fell to the Eagles, who went 3-0 on the day and beat last year’s champions from Lincoln.

In the championship match, Indian Springs was trailing Lincoln with two wrestlers remaining. In the third period, Jackson Wilcoxon pinned his man to make the score 44-42. ISMS was behind by two points going into the final match.

Weston Ottinger pinned his opponent in eight seconds to make the score 48-44 — and take the win.

Rhodes signs with Indiana Tech

Mason Rhodes, 17, daughter of John And Julie Rhodes, Columbia City High School, signed with Indiana Tech’s girls bowling team last week.

Rhodes is graduating from CCHS as a junior and has been a member of Columbia City’s varsity bowling team for three years. She finished the regular high school season with a 198 average, carries a high game of 266 and a series high of 694. Rhodes is the 2012-13 girls team captain. The girls team was sectional champion and regional champs.
