COLUMBIA CITY â€” Columbia Cityâ€™s boys golf team played through wet, rainy, 58-degree conditions Tuesday night in its Northeast Hoosier Conference Opener against Bellmont.
At an already saturated Eagle Glen Golf Course in Columbia City, the Eagles fell to their conference opponent, 172-177, on the front nine.
The Braves were paced by Chase Ellsworth, who scored a 37 despite the poor conditions.
Columbia City was led by freshmen Tyler Green and Spencer Klimek, who shot 42 and 43, respectively.
CHURUBUSCO â€” Tuesday nightâ€™s Churubusco track meet with Northeast Corner Conference opponent Eastside started in the rain, ended in the rain, and in between it rained.
The Churubusco boysâ€™ and girlsâ€™ teams rained points on the visiting Blazers as the boysâ€™ team won all but two events on their way to a 99.5-27.5 win, and the girls went one better, dropping only one event as they posted a 99-26 victory.
Danielle Pippenger had four individual wins for the Lady Eagles.
Pippenger won both hurdles races, taking the 100-meter race in 16.7 seconds and the 300-meter race in 49.98 seconds.
SOUTH WHITLEY â€” Whitkoâ€™s boys track team hosted a four-way meet Tuesday night, placing second to Three Rivers Conference foe Manchester.
The Squires finished the meet with 85 points, followed by Whitko with 80, Northfield with 55 and Lakeland Christian with 0.
The Wildcats were paced by Connor Stouder, who had three first-place finishes.
Stouder took first in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.4. He won the 200 with a 23.1 time, and placed first in the 400-meter dash with a 53.7 time.
Stouder ran the last leg of the 1,600-meter relay for first-place Whitko.
CHURUBUSCO â€” Churubuscoâ€™s Lady Eagle tennis squad squared off against visiting Northeast Corner Conference foe Fairfield Monday night on the â€™Busco courts.
The Falcons were not the best of guests, as they took a 5-0 win over the Lady Eagles.
At No. 1 singles, Fairfield freshman Emily Mast took a 6-0, 6-0 win from Churubusco sophomore Cheyenne Conner.
The Eaglesâ€™ Audrey Gierscher fell by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores in the No. 2 singles contest to Fairfield sophomore Lauren Streit.
