HUNTERTOWN — Even under the pressure of the win-or-go-home sectional playoffs, pitcher Jordan Bickle continued to do what he’s been doing all season — striking out opposing batters and pitching a lot of innings.

Bickle helped the Columbia City Eagles baseball team defeat the DeKalb Barons 5-1 Thursday night at Carroll High School in the first round of sectional play.

Bickle, the tall, hard-throwing right-hander, fanned 10 Baron batters in a complete game, his fourth outing of the year with double-digit strikeouts.

In nearly a repeat of last year’s state finalists from Whitley County, Monk is to join Samantha Roush and Carlee Hearld — again — at Bloomington.
