The ninth-ranked Eagles lost to the 14th-ranked Lions 35-28. Churubusco Head Football Coach Paul Sade said his team has a great deal to take away from the contest.

“It’s probably the best team we’ve played, one of the best programs we have played,.” he said.

Green wins junior golf tournament

November 1, 2013

LEBANON, Ohio — A Columbia City High School sophomore captured a Golf Week Junior Tour (GJT) win last weekend.

Tyler Green won the tour event at Shaker Run in Lebanon, Ohio.

It took a playoff for Green to do it, as he and Spencer Dobbs both shot 152 over the two days to tie in the boys’ 15-19 division.

On the second playoff hole, though, Green nearly had a hole-in-one. His tee shot landed just three feet from the cup. He finished and won the tournament on that hole.

For both teams, it will be a unique showdown. ’Busco enters 8-2, and Bremen 7-3, but both schools are undefeated against Class 2A competition.

Conferences produce mixed sectional results

October 31, 2013

NORTHEAST INDIANA — Postseason play in football is often used as a measuring stick.

The subject of the measuring is how different high school football conferences stack up as far as quality is concerned.

Since most conferences have very few games played out of the league, such assessing is difficult until sectionals start.

While by no means perfect, postseason play and performance is used as a gauge.

Here is a glance at how area conferences performed during week one of sectional action.
