Whitko’s baseball team suffered a difficult loss to Three Rivers Conference foe Northfield Tuesday night, 11-2.
The Norsemen are 3-1 in the TRC and Whitko drops to 2-2.
Northfield took the lead early on, scoring four unanswered runs in the second inning.
Whitko scored one of its two runs in the top of the third, but the run was negated by another Northfield run in the bottom of the third frame.
After a scoreless fourth inning, Northfield tacked on another run in the bottom of the fifth to make the score 6-1.
The accolades continue for Whitley County pro golfer Bill Schumaker.
Schumaker, PGA pro and owner at Crooked Lake Golf Course, earned his 16th Indiana Player of the Year title recently, and qualified to play in the 2014 Senior PGA Championship at Harbor Shores Golf Course in Benton Harbor, Mich. Schumaker is the only pro from Indiana who earned a slot in the national competition, which runs from May 22 to 25 and includes the likes of Tom Watson and Fred Couples.
