3-1 WIN: Col. City nabs victory over Manchester

COLUMBIA CITY — The Columbia City Lady Eagle volleyball team had to come back from a one-game deficit and an eight-point hole in game four to claim a 3-1 match victory over the visiting Manchester Lady Squires. The Eagles dropped game one 25-23, but came back to take 25-14 and 25-16 wins in games two and three, before coming from behind to take game four after six hard-fought extra points at 29-27.

'BIG' ROAD VICTORY: Lady Eagles win NHC match

OSSIAN — Columbia City’s girls golf team picked up a win in its final Northeast Hoosier Conference dual Tuesday evening at Timber Ridge Golf Course against Norwell, 188-191.

COLUMBIA CITY — For the second time in a week, the Columbia City boys soccer team gave up multiple goals to a single opposition player.
On Saturday, the Eagles gave up five goals to a single Huntington North player. Tuesday night, the Eagles squared off against Northeast Hoosier Conference foe DeKalb. Baron senior Brennan Cochran went one better, tallying six scores to send Columbia City to a 6-0 defeat.

2,000 RUNNERS: ’Busco, Col. City compete at Marion Inv.

MARION — Columbia City’s and Churubusco’s boys and girls cross country traveled to Indiana Weslyean in Marion Saturday to compete in an invitational with approximately 2,000 other runners. Churubusco’s runners had personal records, with Jacob Eyer and Blake Gross leading the boys’ squad with 11th and 17th finishes, respectively.

'PAIN' IN EAGLES SIDE: Boys soccer falls to Huntington North

COLUMBIA CITY — Saturday morning showed bright and sunny, as the Columbia City boys’ soccer team played host to Huntington North. Huntington junior Zach Baldridge proved to be a massive pain in the side, as he tallied five of the visitors’ scores in a 6-1 Viking victory.

'BUSCO EAGLES OFF: Garrett finishes out win, 29-7

CHURUBUSCO — The Churubusco Eagles continued their game against the Garrett Railroaders Saturday at 3 p.m. at home after it was postponed due to thunderstorms Friday night. The game ended with final score of 29-7. The Eagles were hard-pressed to find a consistent rushing game throughout the third quarter.

CONFERENCE OPENER: Wildcats hold on to win

SOUTH WHITLEY — Friday night’s lightning postponement of Whitko’s football game didn’t break the Wildcats’ concentration when it resumed Saturday afternoon. Whitko held on to its 7-0 lead to win its Three Rivers Conference opener over Southwood. With the game delayed with four minutes left in the third quarter, and Whitko holding a 7-0 lead, grid action resumed at 5 p.m. Saturday — without much more offensive action.

'MISCUES HURT': Win slips away from Eagles, 25-15

COLUMBIA CITY — When the football game was postponed by weather Friday night, the Eagles had just scored taking a 15-7 lead and looked to be in control. Less than 20 hours later when the game resumed, the tables had turned completely as the Eagle offense went flat, and miscues hurt several offensive opportunities. The Bellmont offense gained more yardage in their first drive than they had the whole first half Friday night.

WHITLEY COUNTY — Due to threatening weather and lightning several local area football games were postponed and rescheduled for tomorrow.
