COLUMBIA CITY ‚ÄĒ With the new school year starting, some area churches are also began their Wednesday night activities.
Two of these mid-week groups include the Pioneer Club of Trinity Presbyterian Church and AWANA of New Hope Wesleyan Church.
Pioneer Club meets from 6:46 to 8 p.m., and is for children ages four to seventh grade.
The time is filled singing songs, ‚Äúfun‚ÄĚ games, and learning Bible lessons.
Wednesday the group will have a special appearance by Jim Barron, WBCL (90.3 FM) morning radio host and illusionist.

The Whole Health Wellness Center, located at 1065 W. CR 150 N, officially broke ground this spring with the mission ‚Äúdedicated to making a positive impact in the community by encouraging others and restoring lives.‚ÄĚ

Joe E. Long, 91, formerly of Columbia City, died Saturday, September 21, 2013, at Kindred Health Care Facility in Newark, Ohio.
He was born Feb. 10, 1922. in Avilla, a son of Milo and Rosetta V. (Rider) Long. He spent most of his life in Noble and Whitley counties and graduated from North Webster High School.
On April 26, 1942, he was united in marriage to Allene P. Cole and they just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this year.

In a game pitting the Eagles against the Heritage Patriots, it appeared the seniors and team mates would celebrate a hard-earned victory.
Unfortunately, the second half play didn‚Äôt match the first 40-minute effort and it turned costly for the Eagles.
WHITLEY COUNTY ‚ÄĒ Officials believe accidental drowning was the cause of death for a toddler in Whitley County Saturday.
Around 1:40 p.m., first responders were called to 8009 W. CR 300 S., after family members found the two-year-old boy submerged and partially visible in a small pond.
Indiana Conservation Officers say the boy was outside with his famly when they realized he was missing. The family estimates they found him less than 10 minutes after they noticed he was out of sight.
When emergency crews arrived, they found family members performing CPR on the boy.
WHITLEY COUNTY (Sept. 21, 2013) - A two-year-old was pronounced dead at 3:45 p.m. today, and Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the possibility that the cause of death was a possible drowning.

Tanner Hughes led the Wildcats with three touchdowns, 193 rushing yards and 12.1 yards per carry.
Hughes scored the opening TD for Whitko. Two minutes into the game on a 51-yard, 5-play drive, Hughes took the ball to the end zone from the 4-yard line to put the ‚ÄôCats on the board.
