COLUMBIA CITY â Whitley County Consolidated Schools Board of School Trustees (WCCS) approved an agreement with a marketing company Monday.
Big Idea Company will partner with the district to provide professional services for community outreach and communication. The agreement passed by a 7-0 vote.
WCCS hopes the company can be a positive influence for the district in this period of educational choice.
Tawnya Lynn Jackson, 49, of Columbia City, passed away at 5 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2013, at her home.
Born May 30, 1963, in Grayson, Ky. she was the daughter of Hank and Anna (Brainard) Sexton.
She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1981. She then received her associates degree in accounting from Indiana Business College, Fort Wayne.

Robert Martin Hine, 95, died at Coventry Meadows April 22, 2013. He was a lifetime resident of Jefferson Township in Whitley County and son of the late Gustave and Myra Hine.
Robert worked at Coil Eng. in Roanoke and Dana Ft. Wayne for 33.5 years.
He liked gardening, mowing, the Colts, Indiana basketball and senior tours. Robert served in the U.S. Army 4.5 years in the 192nd Headquarters company and 38th Cyclone division receiving the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and other metals from New Guinea and the Philippines.
Herman William Farber, 82, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at his home. He was born January 4, 1931 in Columbia City the son of the late Raymond and Elma Farber.
On September 8, 1973, he was united in marriage with Ruth Hart, and she preceded in him death August 27, 2002.
Herman served his country in the U.S. Army for 21 years. He served in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked at American Hoist in Ft. Wayne.
He was a member of the Leo American Legion Post 409, Masonic Lodge in Leo and Eagles Aerie #2556 in Hicksville, Ohio.
Sandra Sue (Wuertley) Harter, 72, a South Whitley native, died Friday, April 19, 2013, at her home in New Braunfels, Texas.
She was born Dec. 22, 1940 in Huntington a daughter of John Phillip and Elsie Marcell (Householder) Wuertley. Her formative years were spent in South Whitley.
Light snow is falling in parts of Whitley County.

COLUMBIA CITY â Columbia Cityâs boys golf team played through wet, rainy, 58-degree conditions Tuesday night in its Northeast Hoosier Conference Opener against Bellmont.
At an already saturated Eagle Glen Golf Course in Columbia City, the Eagles fell to their conference opponent, 172-177, on the front nine.
The Braves were paced by Chase Ellsworth, who scored a 37 despite the poor conditions.
Columbia City was led by freshmen Tyler Green and Spencer Klimek, who shot 42 and 43, respectively.
CHURUBUSCO â Tuesday nightâs Churubusco track meet with Northeast Corner Conference opponent Eastside started in the rain, ended in the rain, and in between it rained.
The Churubusco boysâ and girlsâ teams rained points on the visiting Blazers as the boysâ team won all but two events on their way to a 99.5-27.5 win, and the girls went one better, dropping only one event as they posted a 99-26 victory.
Danielle Pippenger had four individual wins for the Lady Eagles.
Pippenger won both hurdles races, taking the 100-meter race in 16.7 seconds and the 300-meter race in 49.98 seconds.
