Whitko golf suffers narrow loss

Whitko’s golf team traveled to Rochester Wednesday night to take on two Three Rivers Conference opponents, North Miami and Rochester.

The Wildcats split the match, beating North Miami and falling by three strokes to Rochester.

North Miami did not post a complete score. The Wildcats were led by Danny Zawlocki who scored a 41.

Cole Bechtold was one stroke behind his teammate with a 42, and Will Peters finished in 43 strokes.

Whitko JV softball takes 31-1 win

Whitko’s junior varsity softball team picked up an impressive 31-1 victory at Wayne High School.

Andrea Snavely led the Lady Wildcats with five hits, including two doubles and a triple.

Emily Hughes had three hits, including a double and a triple.
Pitcher Tori Silveus helped her own cause with three hits, including two doubles.

Silveus was also sharp on the mound, striking out 11 and giving up two hits.

’Busco tennis drops pair of matches

Churubusco’s girls tennis team fell to Westview Tuesday and Central Noble on Wednesday.

Against a competitive Westview team, the Lady Eagles fell 5-0.
In No. 1 singles, Audrey Giercher fell 6-1, 6-1.

Camille Cseri dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match in No. 2 singles.
In No. 3 singles, Cheyenne Conner fell 6-2, 6-0.

The No. 1 doubles team of Nikki Esslinger and Aaliyah Hensinger fell 6-1, 6-1.

Whitko baseball takes one-point win; suffers one-point loss this week

Whitko’s baseball team grabbed a one-point win over Triton Tuesday night, only to fall by one point to Southwood Wednesday.

Against Triton, the Wildcats grabbed a 14-13 victory after a high-scoring start to the game. Whitko took a 3-1 lead in the first inning, then went on to score 11 runs in the second frame.

However, Triton answered with five runs of its own to make the score 14-6 at the end of the second inning.

HEARLD HITS HIGH JUMP PR: team falls to NHC foes

May 1, 2014

Columbia City’s boys track team traveled to New Haven this week to take on two Northeast Hoosier Conference foes — the host Bulldogs and East Noble.

The Eagles fell short, as New Haven took the win with 86 points, followed by East Noble with 44 and Columbia City with 40.

A highlight of the night was high jumper Tim Hearld, who cleared 5 feet, 10 inches.

Also picking up wins was the 3,200-meter relay team of Seth Kissinger, Evan Harney, David Fulk and Andrew McFarland, McFarland in the 400-meter dash and Dakota Goldwood in the shot put.

Whitko softball drops contest to Manchester Tuesday, 7-2

On a wild blustery night, it was the Whitko Lady Wildcat offense that went cold as they fell behind early and could never catch up as they lost 7-2 to the visiting Manchester Lady Squires Tuesday night.

In the top of the first inning, the visitors jumped on top quickly.
A single by senior shortstop Sydney Snep loaded the bases for the Lady Squires.

’Busco baseball grabs NECC win

April 30, 2014

Churubusco’s baseball team held on for a win over Eastside Tuesday night, 3-2.

The win improves the Eagles’ record to 10-4.

After scoreless first and second innings, Churubusco picked up three runs in the bottom of the third to take a 3-0 lead.

Eagle golf picks up win

Churubusco’s golf team traveled to Cherry Hill Golf Course to take on Blackhawk Christian Tuesday night.

The Eagles grabbed a close win, 135-139, with strong performances from several linksters.

Churubusco was led by Brad Martin with 44 strokes.

Lady Eagles fall 11-0 to Eastside

Churubusco’s Lady Eagle Softball team hosted Eastside Tuesday night, falling 11-0 in a difficult game.

Courtney Luttman started on the mound for the Lady Eagles, and retired from the game after Eastside tacked on five runs.
