COLUMBIA CITY — Columbia City’s Lady Eagle softball team dug itself an early 6-0 hole and never rebounded as they dropped a 13-3, 10-run loss to visiting Northeast Hoosier Conference foe, DeKalb Monday evening at the Morsches Park diamond.
Columbia City gave up six first inning runs, fueled in part by early walks to the Lady Barons. Columbia City pitcher walked the first two DeKalb batters after opening each at-bat with two strikes. With two runners on a Columbia City error loaded the bases.
SOUTH WHITLEY — In order to be the best you have to beat the best. The Whitko Wildcats baseball team put the rest of the Three Rivers Conference on notice Monday night when the Wildcats pounded out an 11-6 win against defending conference champion Northfield.
“To knock off the defending conference champion and give them a loss is big,” said Whitko Head Coach Eric Hisner. “We had to find an identity early in the season and we are growing with each game.”
