2012-2013 school calendar proposed

November 11, 2011

COLUMBIA CITY — The 2012-2013 school calendar was proposed this week at a very brief work session for the Whitley County Consolidated School Board of Trustees.
Pending approval of the schedule at the board’s next meeting, the first day of school will be Aug. 21, 2012 and the school year will end on June 5, 2012 – barring the need for any makeup days due to weather.
In other WCCS business:
•The board discussed how the new paperless board packets are working. Starting this year, work packets typically distributed through copies and via mail have been uploaded to the board’s website, allowing members to view them online from wherever they are.
•Superintendent Dr. Patricia O’Connor said a proposal is being worked on to create a position for an Outreach Communications Coordinator.
•As reported in Thursday’s Post & Mail, Indian Springs Middle School Vice Principal Michelle Urban presented an update to the district’s New Teacher Program.
