COLUMBIA CITY â Jared Lamle is no stranger to the show ring.
Wednesday afternoon, Lamle had the opportunity to exhibit his livestock wisdom in the Large Animal Round Robin.
He took first place out of a field of seven showmen from each large-animal species.
âHeâs very composed in the ring. Thatâs where he won it,â said Judge Cody Reikart. âTo be able to keep his composure, yet still be very competitive and intense is where he excelled. Thatâs the enthusiastic intensity it takes to win.â
This yearâs judge was a round robin winner himself. Reikart, of Lafayette, was in 4-H for 10 years.
While Reikart spoke highly of Lamleâs strengths, he also praised the work of his competitors.
âMy suggestion to the rest of them â just keep trying,â Reikart said. âThat was not an easy decision. Theyâre good at what they do and they all should be commended.â
Reikart said next year should be interesting, as many of Wednesdayâs competitors werenât 10-year members.
