5K for Jesus to start National Day of Prayer celebration

WHITLEY COUNTY — Each year, dozens of area residents come together for the National Day of Prayer, held on the first day of May annually.

However, events are slated leading up to the nationwide day of observance. A 5K Walk, Run for Jesus will take off April 26 at 9 a.m. from The Center for Whitley County Youth in Columbia City.

“The race is being held to raise awareness and promote the National Day of Prayer in our community,” said organizer Sue Langohr.

Proceeds from the event will benefit The Center.

Pre-registration costs $15 and is due by Wednesday. Afterwards, the cost is $20. For families, the maximum registration fee is $50. Children riding in stroller are free, and will not receive a T-shirt.

Checks can be sent to and made payable to Julie Bock at 3694 W. 500 N., Columbia City IN 46725.

Race-day registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at The Center, 201 W. Market St.

Awards will be presented for both male and female runners in a variety of age categories.
