8-POINTER: Teen bags big buck
COLUMBIA CITY — A Columbia City High School senior will soon be featured on television harvesting the trophy of a lifetime. Tanner Pfeiffer 18, of Columbia City, was hunting with his father, John, last October in Pampa, Texas when he shot a large whitetail deer with his high-powered rifle. The hunt was filmed for a TV show called “The Way Outfitters Adventures,” which airs on the Sportsman’s Channel on Thursday nights at 10:30 p.m. and again Friday at 10:30 a.m. Tanner’s episode airs Feb. 23 at 10:30 p.m. and again Feb. 24 at 10:30 a.m. The buck, known as Blade around the ranch where it was harvested because of the shape of two of his antler tines, weighed in at 235 pounds field dressed. The father and son were hunting courtesy of The Way Outfitters, a Christian organization dedicated to providing outdoor adventures for veterans and people with disabilities.“Tanner has cerebral palsy that affects mostly his legs,” said John Pfeiffer. “He can walk independently but is very unstable.”The Pfeiffers said the mount is expected to arrive any day from Texas and that the meat from the deer had been donated to a prison near the ranch where it was harvested.___For a more in depth look at this story, see the Feb. 11 Weekend Edition of The Post and Mail.
