Alice D. Ogg Fernbaugh, 101, of Columbia City, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at Millerâ€™s Merry Manor where she had been a resident since Jan. 2009.
She was born Aug. 28, 1912, in Allen County, a daughter of Clement and Maleva (Ambrose) Ritenour. After completing her education at Arcola High School, she moved to Fort Wayne.
She married Luther Ogg and they made their home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Ogg died in 1968.
On Nov. 22, 1973, she married Carl W. Fernbaugh. They made their home in South Bend until 1984, when they moved to Whitley County. Mr. Fernbaugh died in 1989.
She was employed at Kendallville Hospital for several years and retired from Universal Tool in Butler.
Her memberships include Oak Grove Church of God where she attended Monday Bible study and senior citizens group.
Surviving relatives include three children, Rex (Becky) Ogg of Grand Rapids, Mich., Eugene (Barbara) Vogely of South Whitley and William (Bonnie) Ogg of Fort Wayne; a daughter-in-law, Ann VanZile of Avilla; nine grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 21 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Clement Luther Ogg Jr. and Monte Dean Ogg; two brothers, Milton Ritenour and Clement Ritenour Jr.; and two sisters, Mae Hilderbrand and Edith Schlaudruff.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City, with visitation from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The burial will be in Jefferson Chapel Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to Oak Grove Church of God.
