NEW HAVEN â€” Allen L. Plasterer, 79, of New Haven, died at 7:15 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2012, at Golden Years Homestead where he had been a resident since 2009.
He was born Feb. 13, 1933, in Fort Wayne, a son of Richard W. and Myrtle (Lee) Plasterer.
On Feb. 1, 1952, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean War.
On Jan. 29, 1983, he was united in marriage to Jacqueline L. Ramp.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie; three children, Dawn Fiore of Fort Wayne, Rex Plasterer of Fort Wayne and Cheryl Walker of Huntington; two stepchildren, Laurie Anderson of New Haven and Garrick Cook of Fort Wayne; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Plasterer and two sisters, Glenna Army and Marylin Glover.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. The burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Larwill. The visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to Firefighters Museum.
