COLUMBIA CITY — Residents are paying taxes and dropping off aluminum tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Recently, members of the Faith Christian Academy brought in their donation — in a fish aquarium.
Drew Lortie, a student at FCA, brought the tabs in and was “happy” to donate them to help kids and parents in need.
Faith Christian Academy is Whitley County’s only non-denominational Christian school, operating since 1991. Tabs can be collected in many types of convenient containers, such as plastic baggies, buckets, water bottles and more.
The fish tank was clear, and was easy to measure collection progress as students began gathering aluminum tabs. The money generated from recycling the tabs is used in a general operating budget to ensure that the Ronald McDonald House remains open for families of sick or injured children.
These tabs will go to support the Ronald McDonald House has opened inside the Parkview Regional Medical Center Fort Wayne. With the support of Whitley County citizens, the Ronald McDonald Houses will continue to serve families in need.
For those who want to collect tabs, but do not have an aquarium, cardboard houses are available at the Engineer’s office, located in Suite 203 at 220 W. Van Buren, in the Government Center.
Aluminum tabs can be dropped off in the barrel at both the front and back door of the Government Center Building, or the Courthouse between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
