ANCHORS AWAY, BANKS: State senator to miss last week of session for Navy training

COLUMBIA CITY — State Sen. Jim Banks is known for representing Whitley County at the Statehouse, facing political agendas.

But now, Banks will have an agenda representing the country. Banks will be deployed for two weeks with the U.S. Navy as part of his military training.

Banks joined the U.S. Navy Reserves in 2012 as a supply corps officer. His military duty means he will miss the last week of the legislative session. Banks is set to leave March 8 for Rhode Island.
