CHURUBUSCO â€” What has become a long season for the Churubusco Lady Eagle tennis team continued on Tuesday night as it fell 5-0 to a visiting Angola Lady Hornet team.
The Lady Eagles were only able to pick up one game in the varsity singles contests and that came at the No. 3 slot where senior Kayleen Mitchell fell 6-0, 6-1 to Angolaâ€™s Alyssa Rhoades.
In the No. 1 singles slot, Churubusco sophomore Cheyenne Conner fell 6-0 to the Lady Hornetsâ€™ Kirsten Quandt in the first set and by an identical 6-0 score in the second set.
In No. 2 singles, freshman Audrey Gierscher fell 6-0, 6-0 to Angolaâ€™s Tracey Byrne to round out the varsity singles competition.
The No. 1 doubles team of junior Katee Baxter and freshman Camille Cseri dropped an 6-0, 6-0 decision to the Hornetsâ€™ Kiersten Heierman and Kylie Bidlack. The No. 2 doubles duo of juniors Madi Cook and Nikki Esslinger had more success despite dropping the first set 6-0 the Churubusco pair came back in the second set to win three games, despite dropping the set 6-3.
The loss drops the Lady Eagle record to 0-7 on the season.View more articles in:
