Area Easter services
â€śThe Passion and Crucifixion: A Physicianâ€™s Perspectiveâ€ť is the title of the churchâ€™s community Good Friday serviceat 7 p.m. Dr. Dave Johnson will offer a presentation on the sufferings and death of Jesus Christ. Johnson combines scriptural teachings with historical writings, archeological evidence and medical research. All are invited. There is no cost. The offering will be given to the community transient needs fund.
Columbia City UM
The sermon title for Easter Sunday is â€śHope for Tomorrow.â€ť Scripture is from 1 Corinthians 15:19-26 and Luke 24:1-12. The Lawrence E. Wolfe Memorial Handbell Choir will play and the Chancel Choir will sing an â€śI Amâ€ť medley at the 8:30 service.
Everyone is invited to attend the Good Friday Experience at Columbia City United Methodist Church (CCUMC). It will be a free, hands-on, station-based experience. It will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The Worship Center will be transformed into many different places of prayer and personal reflection, with stations based on the events of Good Friday. CCUMC is located at 605 N. Forest Parkway, Columbia City.
Eagle Quest Church invites everyone to a special service on Easter Sunday at 10:30 a.m. Worship Leader Janessa Janke will be sharing special music, and there will be a short drama by the Eagle Quest drama team. Pastor Tim Scroggs will be sharing on â€śLiving a Resurrected Life.â€ť Every family will also receive a gift. The church is located at 1120 N. Ind. 109, Columbia City.
The Good Friday Tenebrae Service of Darkness will be held at 7 p.m. The Easter Sunrise service will be at 6:30 a.m. with breakfast following and another worship service at 9 a.m.
Easter service will be 9 a.m. with a celebration of Holy Communion. Brunch will follow the service.
Everyone can join the church Sunday for the Easter service at a new service time of 10:45 a.m., or at 9:30 a.m. for a light breakfast and Sunday school. The church is located at 204 S. Oak St., Columbia City.
South Whitley UM
South Whitley United Methodist Church has several events during the Holy Week of Easter. Today at 7 p.m. is Good Friday service. Sunday will hold two services, Vintage at 8:30 a.m. and New Wine at 11 a.m. An Easter Breakfast will be provided between the two services at 9:45 a.m. in the social hall on the lower level.
All are welcome to Troy Presbyterian Church for Easter breakfast Sunday at 8:45 a.m. Easter Worship Service is at 9:50 a.m. Rev. Howard Comptonâ€™s sermon title this week is â€śThe Greatest News Of Allâ€¦He Lives!!â€ť This will be based on Luke 24:1-12. The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received that day. The church is located one-half mile east of Ind. 5 on West Lincolnway.
Washington Center UM
Good Friday service will be at 7 p.m. tonight. Pastor Bill Rapp will share the message topic of â€śWhere You There?,â€ť using scripture from John 13:3-10. Easter Sunday services start with a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. Pastor Rapp will be sharing from Mark 16:1-8 on â€śSon Rise.â€ť
At 8 a.m., breakfast will be served. At 9 a.m., bringing the Easter message entitled, â€śWhat Difference?,â€ť Pastor Rapp will be using 1 Corinthians 15: 1-11. The church is located at the corner of Washington Rd. and CR 800 S.
