Augusta Dujardin Carner, 85, passed away and now rests in the loving arms of our Lord Jesus. She was a daughter of Alberic and Irene Dujardin of Mishawaka. She married Gerald Edward Carner Sept. 17, 1949.
A lifelong Mishawaka resident before moving to Columbia City, she spent the past six years with her daughter, Denise (David) Heckman.
She was a loving and dedicated mother and there are no words to describe the love she had towards her family and all she knew.
Augusta and her siblings loved performing music and were known as the “Fabulous Dujardins.” Music gave them all much joy and they played at several area venues.
Augusta worked for the Provincial House of Holy Cross where she was a cook and housekeeper, and as a cashier at Hook’s Drug Store. However, her most important jobs were raising her children, taking care of her family and teaching them the love of Jesus.
Along with making some of the best cookies, her hobbies included ceramics, baking, sewing and decorating cakes.
She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of all who loved her.
Surviving relatives include a sister, Martha (Les) Seggerman, and two brothers, Walt (Sandy) Dujardin and Bert (Vi) Dujardin; four children: Denise (David) Heckman of Columbia City, Steve Carner of Soldotna, Alaska; Nancy (George) Rambo of Elkhart and Ron (Nancy) Carner of St Augustine, Fla. She had 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband Gerald Carner; brothers, James Dujardin and Robert Dujardin; sisters, Sido Whitbeck and Ida Dujardin; and a great-grandson, Peyton Shoemaker-Bender.
Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hahn’s Funeral Home 505 W. 8th St. in Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Rick Pride officiating the service.
