COLUMBIA CITY â€” Award-winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will perform a self-described â€śdiverse program of music from four centuriesâ€ť at Peabody Public Libraryâ€™â€™s Robert E. Brittain Memorial Auditorium May 13.
The show is free and open to the public.
â€śThe concert will take place at the beautiful Robert E. Brittain Memorial Auditorium, which has excellent acoustics and is ideal for classical guitar,â€ť said Fletcher in a press release.
Fletcherâ€™s repertoire will include â€śJesu, Joy of Manâ€™s Desiringâ€ś from Cantata No. 147, as well as the â€śChaconne in D minorâ€ť by J. S. Bach; two works from Maurice Ravelâ€™s exquisite â€śMother Goose Suite;â€ť Francisco Tarregaâ€™s ever popular â€śRecuerdos de la Alhambra;â€ť two exciting crowd pleasers by Spanish composer Joaquin Turina; Griegâ€™s â€śChanson de Solveig from Peer Gynt;â€ť and music of Praetorius, Ponce and Reusner.
The program will culminate with â€śKoyunbaba,â€ť by composer/guitarist Carlo Domeniconi. â€śThis is one of the most unique and exciting works in the classical guitar repertoire,â€ť said Fletcher.
