AWARD-WINNING MUSICIAN: Classical guitarist coming to Col. City

COLUMBIA CITY — Award-winning classical guitarist Peter Fletcher will perform a self-described “diverse program of music from four centuries” at Peabody Public Library’’s Robert E. Brittain Memorial Auditorium May 13.
The show is free and open to the public.
“The concert will take place at the beautiful Robert E. Brittain Memorial Auditorium, which has excellent acoustics and is ideal for classical guitar,” said Fletcher in a press release.
Fletcher’s repertoire will include “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring“ from Cantata No. 147, as well as the “Chaconne in D minor” by J. S. Bach; two works from Maurice Ravel’s exquisite “Mother Goose Suite;” Francisco Tarrega’s ever popular “Recuerdos de la Alhambra;” two exciting crowd pleasers by Spanish composer Joaquin Turina; Grieg’s “Chanson de Solveig from Peer Gynt;” and music of Praetorius, Ponce and Reusner.
The program will culminate with “Koyunbaba,” by composer/guitarist Carlo Domeniconi. “This is one of the most unique and exciting works in the classical guitar repertoire,” said Fletcher.
“This concerts promises to be the perfect event in which to celebrate Mother’s Day.”
