Baseball registration ends this Saturday

March 1, 2013

COLUMBIA CITY — Registration for youth baseball in Columbia City ends Saturday. Softball’s deadline will be in two weeks, on March 16.

The age groups are 4 to 14. There will be a registration time at the pavilion at Morsches Park Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m.

Players are able to be registered for either sport at those times.

Columbia City Park Director Mark Green said people may still register after those dates, but there is a late fee.

“I don’t like charging late fees,” he said.

Registering on time is important for baseball since there will be a coaches’ clinic this Sunday and Sunday, March 10.

Green said the clinic is free, but for counting purposes players have to register when they sign up for the season. The clinic begins at 1 p.m. Softball evaluations will be on Saturday, March 23 at noon and 2:30 p.m.
