Betty Jane Blaising, 86

Betty Jane “BJ” Blaising, 86, of Columbia City, passed away at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014.
Born Nov. 6, 1927, in Fort Wayne, she was raised by her grandparents, Pearl Ethel Marker Keiser and Charles Marker. She is the daughter of the late Blanch M. Marker and Charles Hagen. She graduated from Edgerton High School in Ohio with the Class of 1944.
She retired from Allen County’s Printing Department where she worked 35 years in the print shop and composed more than 2,000 forms and printed many more. She worked for Fashion 220 and earned a company car.
She was active in Civic Theater as Jane O’Hagen. She enjoyed gardening roses, lilies, and variety of vegetables. Her main interest was discipling others to know the Lord Jesus Christ.
Surviving relatives include her husband, Stephen H. Blaising; daughter, Vicki (Thaddeus) Wagner-Bryk; stepdaughter, Stephanie Blaising; stepson, Christopher (Linda) Blaising; and step-grandchildren, Ryne, Jenna and Logan Blaising.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 48 years, Richard “Dick” Wagner in 1994 and her second husband, Don Strutz in 1996.
Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 14, at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior.
