Betty Rhoades, 88

Betty R. Rhoades, 88, died Friday, July 20, 2012, at Zeeland Community Hospital in Zeeland, Mich. where she lived with her son, Terry.
She was born July 4, 1924, in Bluffton, a daughter of Charles Herbert and Nettie Lillian Rosen.
She attended Washington Center High School while she lived with “aunt” Mary as a ward of the court.
On Nov. 2, 1963, she married Donald E. Rhoades. They made their home in Arcola. Mr. Rhoades preceded her in death on May 31, 1984.
She retired from General Electric, Ft. Wayne, in 1972. She owned and operated Rhoades Grocery in Arcola from 1973 to 1975.
Surviving relatives include four children, Linda (Robert) LeFever of Churubusco, Steven (Lora) Trier of South Whitley, Becky (Monty) Wolfe of Lake Placid, Fla. and Terry Trier of Zeeland, Mich.; eight grandchildren, Brian (Tana) LeFever, Kris (Tim) Brown, Jay (Jenny) Trier, Danelle Trier, Stephanie Trier, Shane (Heather) Stahl, Stacy (Marc) Byall and Don Barton; 16 great-grandchildren, Tiffany and Josh LeFever, Shelbi and Mandi Krecik, Janea and Josie Trier, Aspyn and Cole Trier, Peyton Trier, Ava and Shalee Stahl, Becca, Marc and Cheyenne Byall and Autumn and Lucas Barton; three brothers, Charles H. Rosen Jr. of Oklahoma, Edward L. Rosen of Michigan and Frank A. Rosen of Michigan and three sisters, Belva Carlisle, Flora Johnson and Donna Schrock, all of Michigan.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert James Rosen.
The funeral service will be held at noon Tuesday at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation after 10 a.m. Tuesday. The burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Fort Wayne.
