CHURUBUSCO — It all came at once for Churubusco’s softball team.

A big fifth inning for the Lady Eagles keyed them to victory Wednesday against Eastside. ‘Busco won, 6-3.

The Lady Eagles scored all six of their runs of the contest in the fifth inning. After that, the game was 6-0 in their favor.

Eastside chipped away, scoring two in the sixth and one in the seventh, but it was not enough to take away the lead that Churubusco had built.

Courtney Luttman was the winning pitcher in relief for ‘Busco. She struck out three and walked just one. Kristen Krill started in the circle for the Lady Eagles and threw nearly five innings of shutout ball.

Kellary Crabil led Churubusco at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Savannah Labenz and Gabby Jones were both 1-for-3 with an RBI apiece.

The Lady Eagles’ runs were scored by Labenz, Chandler Blake, Hannah Richards, Kasey Gibson, Mariah Nondorf and Elaine Horn.

Churubusco, with the win, is now 7-11 for the season. The Lady Eagles take on Westview tonight at home and will play at Heritage Monday.
