BIKE TO SCHOOL DAY: Mary Raber promotes health, safety

COLUMBIA CITY — Bicycles scattered the lawn at Mary Raber Elementary School this morning, as scores of students rode their bikes as part of Bike to School Day.

The school began participating in the event last year in an effort to raise awareness for bicycle safety and to promote exercise, and students have given it the thumbs-up.

“It’s fun,” fifth grader Wyatt Krider said.

“It gives us a chance to get out and ride our bikes with our friends.”

Though many students only ride their bicycles to school on the special day, that’s not the case for all of them.
